IDC Begins 18-Well Project at East Baghdad Field South

By John Lee.

The Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC) has commenced drilling operations for the first well in an 18-well project at the Southern East Baghdad oil field, in cooperation with China's EBS Petroleum, a body registered in Iraq to conduct the petroleum operations on behalf of China's ZhenHua Oil,

The project aims to boost national oil output and support economic growth while adhering to the highest quality and occupational safety standards.

According to an Oil Ministry statement, technical and engineering teams continue to work efficiently to achieve high completion rates, in line with Ministry of Oil directives to expand production and strengthen infrastructure in Iraq's oil fields.

Iraq's Midland [Middle] Oil Company (MdOC) recently announced the discovery of a significant oil reserve in the field.

The Iraqi Council of Ministers approved a modification to the contract area of the field last week, adding 95 km² west of the Diyala River.
