Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani has remotely inaugurated the Al-Dhawari Iron and Steel Factory in Sulaiman Bek, Salah al-Din Governorate, marking a significant advancement in Iraq's industrial capacity.
The private sector project represents a successful model for industrial development in Iraq, with the Prime Minister highlighting its importance amid rising construction activity and increasing demand for building materials throughout the country.
Key details of the facility include:
- Design capacity of 570,000 tons per year
- Phased implementation approach:
- Phase 1: Production of reinforcing steel in various sizes
- Phase 2: Production of multi-purpose steel beams
- Phase 3: Production of steel billets
During the inauguration, Al-Sudani emphasized the crucial timing of this project, noting that more than one million housing units are currently under construction through investment licenses, creating substantial demand for domestically produced construction materials.
The Prime Minister praised the efforts of local officials and private sector companies involved in implementing this vital project, reaffirming that infrastructure development remains a priority in the government's program.
