Iraq's Ministry of Communications has announced a nationwide ban on the online game Roblox following a ruling by the Federal Supreme Court (FSC).
The Ministry said the decision was based on extensive monitoring and analysis that identified several security, social, and behavioural risks associated with the game. These include exposure of children and teenagers to potential exploitation and cyber extortion through direct in-game communication, as well as content deemed inconsistent with Iraqi moral and cultural values.
Authorities also cited fake websites and unofficial platforms they claim are linked to Roblox, that allegedly steal personal data and encourage repeated in-game purchases, creating financial strain for families. The Ministry further warned of rising cases of digital addiction and social isolation among young users.
It confirmed that monitoring of digital platforms and online games would continue in coordination with relevant agencies to safeguard public morality and user safety.
