IIBC Meets SACE to Boost Investment in Iraq

By John Lee.

A delegation from the Iraq Italy Business Council (IIBC) met with Mr. Luca Passariello, Head of SACE Connects, Italy's export credit and project finance agency, at the SACE headquarters in Rome to discuss enhancing financial cooperation and investment support between Iraq and Italy.

The discussions focused on SACE's financial instruments and services that promote internationalisation, export credit guarantees, and investment facilitation for Italian companies operating in Iraq. Mr. Passariello outlined SACE's role in supporting Italian exports and reducing financial and political risks in Iraqi projects.

Both parties explored the potential use of SACE's tools to encourage Italian participation in Iraq's priority sectors, including infrastructure, industry, trade, health, education, exhibitions, and tourism. The IIBC delegation confirmed its readiness to act as a facilitator between SACE and Iraqi institutions to identify viable projects and foster an enabling environment for investment.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to develop tailored financial mechanisms to support Iraqi-Italian business partnerships and strengthen long-term economic cooperation.
