Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has announced that voter turnout in the 2025 parliamentary elections reached 56.11 percent, based on results from 99.98 percent of general polling stations and all special voting centres.
This is considerably higher than the 41 percent recorded at the last elections in 2021, despite a boycott by Muqtada al-Sadr.
Out of 21,404,291 eligible voters, a total of 12,009,453 people cast their ballots across the country.
For the main election day, 10,904,637 voters participated out of 20,063,773 eligible, representing a turnout of 54.35 percent.
The special voting day on 9 November 2025 - designated for members of the armed forces and security personnel - recorded a turnout of 82.52 percent, with 1,084,289 voters out of 1,313,980 eligible. Voting among internally displaced persons (IDPs) reached 77.35 percent, with 20,527 voters out of 26,538 eligible.
The highest provincial turnout rates were recorded in Sulaymaniyah (76.07 percent), Dohuk (69.02 percent), and Karbala (66.44 percent), while the lowest were in Muthanna (40.11 percent), Basra (46.13 percent), and Najaf (46.76 percent).
