The International Energy Agency (IEA) has issued its flagship report, World Energy Outlook (WEO) 2025, emphasising:
"In a volatile world, energy security takes centre stage. Pressing threats and longer term hazards are elevating energy to a core issue of economic and national security. Energy is at the heart of today's geopolitical tensions, with traditional risks to fuel supply now accompanied by restrictions affecting supplies of critical minerals."
Regarding Iraq, the IEA says:
"Supply in Iraq grows marginally from today's level [approximately 4.4 million barrels per day] to 4.6 mb/d in 2035, which depends on progress in water injection capabilities to maintain production."
