The International Labour Organization (ILO) has concluded the final round of an advanced training programme to strengthen Public Employment Services (PES) and enhance employer engagement and labour-market intermediation across the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and in the Ninewa province.
The initiative aims to modernize employment services, improve labour-market governance, and prepare institutions to implement national employment policies, including Iraq's upcoming Employment Strategy.
Participants received training through two key ILO manuals:
- "How to Support a Job Seeker?" - focusing on career counseling and support for vulnerable groups
- "How to Support an Employer?" - emphasizing partnerships between employment services and businesses
The training addressed practical needs including recruitment support, employer engagement, digital services, skill gaps, and job-readiness expectations. It also worked to strengthen cooperation between PES offices, university Career Development Centres, and the private sector.
