UK-based Clarivate Plc has signed a multi-year agreement with Iraq's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to support the country's national research and innovation objectives.
Under the agreement, Clarivate will provide strategic guidance, data and analytics, and skills development aimed at aligning institutional research outputs with national priorities and strengthening long-term research practices.
Stephen Hawthorne, Vice President, Sales, Academia & Government at Clarivate said:

The collaboration will include:
- High-level analysis of Iraq's research landscape using Web of Science data
- Identification of national research priority areas to support evidence-based decision-making
- Tailored performance strategies for selected universities and research institutions
- Workshops on research quality, impact, grant writing, rankings, and commercialisation
- A year-long national Researchers' Academy focused on core research and teaching competencies
The programme is intended to enhance research quality, international visibility, and institutional capability across Iraq's higher education sector.
