The Iraqi Embassy in Paris has organised a seminar to introduce French companies to Iraq's investment law and investment environment, in cooperation with the Arab-French Chamber of Commerce.
Held on January 15, 2026, the event brought together representatives of French companies and economic institutions. The seminar focused on outlining investment opportunities in Iraq and the legal framework governing foreign investment.
In remarks at the seminar, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Thaer Waheeb Hussein encouraged French companies to participate in investment projects in Iraq, noting that the country offers an attractive investment climate aligned with current economic developments. He highlighted the role of foreign investment in transferring expertise, improving management and production, and supporting human development.
The seminar also aimed to encourage participation in upcoming business events, including:
- The Iraqi-French Business Forum, to be held during the 49th Baghdad International Fair from February 1 to 7, 2026
- The International Business Forum scheduled for February 5, 2026
Raoul Delamare, President of the Arab-French Chamber of Commerce, said French companies are keen to enter the Iraqi market, pointing to promising opportunities across multiple sectors. He noted that France has long-standing economic ties with Iraq and is seeking to strengthen them further.
The seminar was attended by Ali Delamare, Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in France, Ali Adel, Deputy Commercial Attaché, and Ahmed Dawood Salman, Legal Adviser to the Iraqi-French Business Council, who delivered a presentation on incentives and benefits provided to foreign investors under Iraq's investment law.
