T964 and Nokia Partner to Upgrade Iraq's Digital Infrastructure

By John Lee.

T964 and Nokia have announced a partnership to modernise Iraq's telecommunications and digital infrastructure, with the agreement signed during Capacity Middle East.

The collaboration will deploy advanced connectivity solutions aimed at strengthening the country's digital economy.

Planned areas of cooperation include:

  • Enterprise network deployment
  • Data centre development
  • International fibre transit optimisation
  • Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services

The initiative will combine Nokia's network technology expertise with T964's local operational capabilities to develop scalable and secure infrastructure.

The partnership also aims to reinforce Iraq's role as a regional data corridor linking the Gulf, Turkey and Europe. It will enhance World Link, T964's international connectivity platform, by improving fibre transit operations and network redundancy to reduce outage risks and strengthen cross-border connectivity.

Expansion of high-speed residential broadband will be pursued through T964's FiberX FTTH platform, with a focus on improving network design and throughput to broaden access to reliable internet services.

Osama Qadan, Chief Commercial Officer at T964, said the partnership is intended to support the country's evolving digital economy. Mohamed Faisal, Head of Middle East-West Network Infrastructure at Nokia, said the company's connectivity solutions would support T964's infrastructure objectives.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
