According to a statement from the Ministry of Trade, the Private Sector Development Department will develop specialised training programmes for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and strengthen private sector participation, in line with a resolution of the Industrial Coordination Council.
The meeting brought together representatives from:
- Ministry of Industry
- Ministry of Planning
- Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs
- Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce
- Federation of Iraqi Industries
- Export Support Fund
Malik Al-Durai'i, Director General of the department, said the meeting examined mechanisms for co-operation among the relevant bodies and established a preliminary vision for the proposed training programmes, in alignment with government decisions supporting the SME sector.
He noted that the planned programmes will focus on building managerial and technical capacity, improving the efficiency of business owners, and enhancing the working environment, with the aim of supporting economic development and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
Al-Durai'i added that further meetings will be held to continue discussions and finalise the proposed training programmes, along with implementation mechanisms and institutional co-ordination arrangements among the participating bodies.
