The General Company for Iraqi Cement, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has reported a significant increase in the production of oil-well cement grades B and G at its Babylon [Babil] plant in February.
According to the company, the plant produced 3,240 tonnes during February, a substantial rise compared with the same period in 2025. A further 1,500 tonnes have been supplied to oil companies since the start of the current year.
Director-General Awad Kazem Abd al-Amir said the plant holds an official licence under the American Petroleum Institute (API) certification, one of the most recognised international standards for oil-well cement production, adding that this supports the reliability of the domestic product and its ability to meet the requirements of the oil industry to international standards.
The cement is used in drilling and well-completion operations.
