An investigating judge at Iraq's Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court has announced that preliminary investigations into a corruption case involving Adnan Muhammad Mahmoud, former deputy oil minister for refining affairs, have resulted in the seizure of significant assets linked to him and associates.
The Supreme Judicial Council said the seizures include approximately 40 properties across Baghdad, Salah al-Din and Erbil provinces, around $10 million in dollars, IQD 3 billion ($2.3m) in dinars, and approximately 1.5 kilogrammes of gold jewellery.
The investigation has also uncovered large quantities of light and medium weapons. The judge noted that investigations are continuing to identify all individuals and entities connected to the case.
