Iraq has formally joined the Network of Corruption Prevention Authorities (NCPA), an international body that facilitates co-operation between anti-corruption agencies.
According to the Federal Commission of Integrity, membership of the network will support the exchange of expertise and information with peer institutions, and help Iraq benefit from international best practices in corruption prevention, prosecution, and the recovery of proceeds from corruption-related crimes.
The Commission described the move as a national achievement at the international level, consistent with Iraq's obligations under the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
The NCPA provides a framework for sharing information, expertise, and successful practices between corruption prevention bodies, and supports capacity-building and institutional development in line with modern international standards.
