Two major infrastructure projects have been cancelled by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, according to the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Al-Zaidi has ordered the cancellation of a railway project approved by the previous government, as well as the cancellation of a development project at Baghdad International Airport, which is said to have been the subject of corruption allegations.
In October 2025, the Iraqi Cabinet approved the project to rehabilitate, develop, and operate the airport, granting the contract to the CAAP Consortium, which comprises Corporación América Airports and Amwaj International. Media sources say the project was valued at $764 million.
