Uzbekistan and Iraq Advance Economic Partnership Talks

Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdullah Aripov received Iraqi Minister of Trade Dr Mustafa Nizar Al-Aani in Tashkent during Iraq's participation in the Fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Aripov confirmed Uzbekistan's interest in expanding economic and trade relations with Iraq, including completing procedures to establish the Joint Trade Committee and holding its first meeting in Tashkent.

The meeting discussed opportunities for industrial and investment cooperation, particularly in electrical industries, including the potential establishment of factories for electrical products and appliances in Iraq through partnerships with the private sector.

Al-Aani highlighted Iraq's interest in diversifying economic partnerships and strengthening trade and investment cooperation. He also proposed opening a direct air route between Iraq and Uzbekistan to support business, investment, tourism and trade links.

The discussions also covered cooperation between private sector organisations and encouraging joint projects. Al-Aani invited Uzbek companies to participate in the next session of the Baghdad International Exhibition.

Aripov directed relevant authorities to facilitate visa procedures for Iraqi investors, businesspeople and tourists to support economic relations between the two countries.
