The newly-appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), Nizar Nasser Hussein, received US Embassy Chargé d'Affaires Joshua Harris to discuss financial and economic cooperation.
The meeting covered strengthening strategic cooperation, supporting monetary and economic stability, and advancing banking sector reforms.
Harris said the United States supports efforts to strengthen stability and praised the reform measures being implemented by the Central Bank, as well as its relationship with the US Treasury and Federal Reserve.
Nizar Nasser Hussein highlighted the importance of implementing the banking reform plan, aligning it with the interests of Iraq's banking sector, international standards for external transfers, and best practices for dollar sales regulation.
