US Packs up Last Iraqi Air Defenses as Withdrawal Deadline Looms
Nearly two months ahead of its anticipated Sept. 30 withdrawal deadline, the United States has begun packing up its air defenses in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The most consequential shift appears to be the reported removal of its Patriot missile batteries near Erbil International Airport, which have played a key role in intercepting Iranian ballistic missile attacks in recent months.
