Iraq, Iran Discuss Cooperation in Banking

The governors of Iraq's and Iran's central banks have met in Baghdad to discuss financial and banking cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), the meeting was attended by Nizar Nasser Hussein, the CBI Governor, and his Iranian counterpart, Abdolnaser Hemmati, along with Iran's Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadiq, and accompanying delegations.

Topics discussed included the settlement of financial obligations, regulation of trade exchanges in line with governance and international compliance standards, and ways to strengthen bilateral banking relations.

Hussein reaffirmed the CBI's commitment to developing supervisory and banking best practices to ensure domestic financial stability and expand regional and international coordination frameworks.
