A career guidance and counselling campaign has been launched for around 750 university students and jobseekers in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The initiative is being delivered by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, career development centres (CDCs), the Kurdistan Workers Unions Federation, and partner universities.
The campaign targets final-year students across three institutions through November: Salahaddin University-Erbil, Erbil Polytechnic University, and Duhok Polytechnic University, with around 250 participants expected at each. Events take the form of half-day sessions on university campuses, providing career guidance tailored to labour market needs.
A key element is the registration of jobseekers through the Directorate General of Labour and Social Affairs (DOLSA)'s digital employment platforms. The campaign also raises awareness of labour rights through the ILO's "Work Wise Youth: A guide to youth rights at work."
The initiative is funded under the PROSPECTS Partnership, supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
