DNO to Increase Drilling in Kurdistan

By John Lee.

DNO, the Norwegian oil and gas operator, has reported strong financial and operational results for the third quarter of 2026, driven by the resumption of Kurdistan region of Iraq production and higher prices across its portfolio.

Drilling activity in Kurdistan also stepped up during the quarter, with a second third-party rig deployed as part of an eight-well drilling programme initiated shortly before the end of 2025.

DNO, described as by far the most active operator in Kurdistan, plans to increase drilling further in 2027 and is considering contracting a third large rig, as well as drilling beyond its existing production footprint on the licence.
