The Iraqi Cabinet has granted the Minister of Agriculture the authority to contract with the Austrian company Bauer for an amount of 300 million euros. The amount is to be converting to dollars and transferring it at the exchange rate of 1,300 Iraqi dinars.
According to a statement from the Media Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Agriculture bears the responsibility for the correctness of the contractual procedures, "in exception to Cabinet Decision 90 of year 2009)."
The decision follows Cabinet approval of a deal in December, which did not specify a value, and was "subject to legal considerations."
The company makes and sells sprinklers and irrigation systems.
