Iraqi budget airline Fly Baghdad has suspended operations until further notice, following the imposition of sanctions by the United States earlier this week.
It said the move was in compliance with a decision of the Iraqi government.
The airline added that due to the freezing of its bank accounts, it is unable to offer refunds or transfer bookings to another airline.
In a later statement, it said:
"We apologize to all our travelers who were stuck in other countries far from their original residence due to the government's sudden decision for us, and we hope that the government also find a solution as quickly as possible for them."

In compliance with the decision of the government represented by His Excellency Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, Fly Baghdad Company, with its management, employees and CEO, fully complies with the implementation of the decision issued by His Excellency the Prime Minister to stop all Fly Baghdad flights starting from this moment and for further notice until the investigation with the CEO and Fly management is completed. Baghdad by the formed committee, and we also express our welcome to this decision for the purpose of proving the incorrectness of the US Treasury Department's claim against Fly Baghdad and its CEO, Mr. Bashir Abdel Kadhim Alwan Al-Shabani.
Therefore, it is necessary to point out to all travelers who have reservations on Fly Baghdad Airlines, and that at the present time we cannot move our bank accounts, so it is not possible for Fly Baghdad to refund canceled tickets or reserve tickets for passengers on other airlines. We also hope that the Iraqi government will help travelers and deliver them to Their destinations are via other Iraqi and foreign airlines
We confirm that we are happy with the government's decision and welcome any inspection committee that scrutinizes the US Treasury's claims
