The FTTH Councils Global Alliance (FCGA) has announced that Fiber Connect Council MENA, represented by its President, Dr. Ala Mousa [Alaa Mousa; Dr Alaa Jasim], has been appointed as the Chair of the FTTH Councils Global Alliance.
Dr. Mousa, who also serves as the CEO of EarthLink, Iraq, will lead the FCGA in its global efforts to promote the adoption of fiber broadband technologies and to strengthen collaborations within the fiber connectivity industry.
He said:
"Being the Chair of FCGA is an immense honor, and we are committed to leveraging this platform to promote fiber connectivity, especially in the rural areas. The goal is to exchange experience, strengthen our global network, bridge the digital divide, and accelerate the adoption of fiber-based broadband.
"This technology provides a strong and reliable infrastructure that enables us to face geographical, economic, and social challenges, enhancing our ability to offer high-quality communication services to our users."
The FCGA describes itself as, "the platform for cooperation of the six regional FTTH [fibre-to-the-home] Councils active in North America, Latin America, Middle East and north Africa, Africa, Europe and Asia-Pacific."
Dr Mousa is also a member of the Iraqi Angel Investors Network (IAIN).
