Iraqi PM Welcomes Reopening of Swiss Embassy after 33 Years

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met with newly appointed Swiss Ambassador Daniel Hunn on Saturday, celebrating the reopening of Switzerland's embassy in Baghdad after a 33-year closure.

Al-Sudani called the move a significant milestone in Iraq-Swiss relations and urged for the activation of joint committees to boost bilateral cooperation.

Both sides discussed enhancing Iraq-European relations, with a focus on creating a business-friendly environment and promoting Swiss investment in Iraq's growing economy.

Ambassador Hunn underscored Switzerland's interest in fostering economic partnerships, citing the embassy's reopening as a step toward facilitating Swiss business operations in Iraq.
