Iraq Initiates Steps to Boost Mining Sector

Iraq's Minister of Industry and Minerals, Dr. Khaled Battal Al-Najm, has issued directives to begin the practical steps for exploring and investing in the country's abundant mineral resources.

During a visit to the General Geological Survey Authority, the minister emphasized the need to streamline procedures, reduce bureaucracy, and engage the private sector to leverage its technical and financial capabilities for exploration and investment projects.

The ministry is focusing on opportunities announced at the Baghdad International Industry and Mining Forum, offering support and facilitating investment. Collaboration with the private sector will include conducting mineral surveys and enabling investment in Iraq's mining potential. The minister also addressed issues related to pricing, exports, and land distribution for employees within the authority, highlighting the strategic importance of geological exploration and mining.
