British Universities sign 12 MOUs with Iraq

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani hosted 26 presidents from British universities representing various disciplines in London on Thursday.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening Iraq's education system by fostering collaboration with globally renowned universities, particularly British institutions with a historic relationship with Iraq's educational sector.

This vision has been reflected in the scholarship initiative launched under his leadership, involving 5,000 Iraqi scholarship students.

The meeting included a special honor from the University of Greenwich, which granted 20 master's degree scholarships to Iraqi students across various fields. Prime Minister Al-Sudani also presented an award to Iraqi Professor Bashir Al-Hashimi, Vice President of Research and Innovation at King's College London, in recognition of his receipt of the title "Knight" from King Charles III.

The gathering concluded with the signing of 12 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between Iraqi and British academic institutions: Eight MOUs signed by the Higher Committee for Education Development in Iraq with:

1. University of Liverpool
2. Newcastle University
3. University of Greenwich
4. King's College London
5. Queen Mary University of London
6. University of Exeter
7. Loughborough University
8. Brunel University of London

Four MOUs signed by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research with:

1. Loughborough University
2. Keele University
3. University of the West of England, Bristol
4. The Nahrein Network at the University College London.
