Baghdad Municipality has signed a contract with China's state-owned Shandong Hi-Speed Group [Shandong Gaosu Group] for the construction of 11,000 housing units in the New Sadr City project.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mayor Ammar Musa Kazem said that more than 30 companies expressed interest in the project, which represents the first phase of the long-awaited New Sadr City development.
A further 49,000 housing units are planned for the second phase of the project.
