$1.17bn New Cement and Chemical Investment in Muthanna

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani has launched the commercial operation of the $200-million Najmat Al-Samawa 2 Cement Plant in Al-Muthanna Province via video conference.

With a daily production capacity of 6,000 tons, the plant is part of a wider $1.171-billion industrial investment package aimed at bolstering Iraq's construction materials sector.

Al-Sudani said Iraq is now self-sufficient in cement production.
