Lucky Cement fires New Clinker Production Line in Samawah

The Najmat Al-Samawah (NAS) joint venture, led by Pakistan's Lucky Cement, has successfully fired the kiln for its new clinker production line in Samawah,

The line has a capacity of 1.82 million tons per annum (MTPA).

An additional cement grinding plant with a capacity of 0.65 million tons per annum is under construction and is expected to be operational in the first half of FY26.

According to a statement from the company, this expansion will significantly enhance Lucky Cement's market share in Iraq. The surplus clinker produced at the facility will be marketed domestically.

Following completion of these projects, the company's capacity in Iraq will be as follows:

  • Al-Mabrooka Cement (Basra): 1.74 MTPA
  • Najmat-Al-Samawah: 1.31 MTPA
  • Najmat-Al-Samawah (new clinker line): 1.82 MTPA
