Iraq's Minister of Industry and Minerals, Prof. Eng. Khaled Battal Al-Najm, has launched the Green Mountain Industrial City project in Basra, marking Iraq's first industrial city of its kind.
The project is a strategic partnership between the General Company for Iron and Steel and China's Tsingshan.
Spanning 2,000 dunams, the city will focus on iron, steel, and construction industries, featuring advanced infrastructure to accommodate modern factories and industrial projects. The initiative aims to enhance local production, diversify the economy, and create high-quality job opportunities.
The contract for the project, signed in March, valued it at $2 billion.
