Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has launched the construction of the Industrial City in Al-Zubair, as part of the Development Road project.
The $2-billion project spans 3,000 dunams and will house around 20 factories producing steel, metal casting, rolling, pipes, wire, aluminum alloys, ceramics, doors, and construction materials.
The site will also include a 1,000-megawatt power station and a 500-meter waterfront on Khor Al-Zubair.
