Iraq's Ministry of Finance has commissioned global consultancy firm Ernst & Young (EY) to evaluate the performance of state-owned insurance companies affiliated with the Ministry.
Finance Minister Taif Sami (pictured) said in a statement to the state-owned Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the move aligns with directives from the Council of Ministers and aims to improve the operational efficiency of the government's insurance sector.
EY will provide technical recommendations regarding potential mergers, restructuring, or performance enhancements for these entities, based on international best practices and standards.
The statement said the initiative reflects a broader effort to modernise Iraq's financial institutions and align them with global governance and service benchmarks.
