Foundation Stone laid for Integrated Services Project in Maysan

By John Lee.

The Governor of Maysan, Mr. Habib Dhahir Al-Fartousi, laid the foundation stone on Tuesday, 27 March 2025, for a new integrated services project in Al-Waraq Village, located in the Al-Majar Al-Kabir District. The initiative is part of the governorate's broader strategy to improve infrastructure and expand essential services in rural areas.

The project includes the construction of a 6,100-metre sewer network using pipes with diameters ranging from 315 mm to 600 mm. It also involves the establishment of a heavy sewage station with a pumping capacity of 600 m³ per hour, along with multiple discharge units.

Additional works include excavation and rehabilitation of streets with subbase material, the installation of high-quality marble-finished pavements, and the paving of roads extending 5,000 metres in total. In terms of technical services, the plan also features the installation of "Duraline" communication pipelines and the construction of culverts to facilitate movement and multi-purpose use.

Mr. Al-Fartousi stated that the project reflects the local government's commitment to infrastructure development and meeting citizen needs-especially in underserved rural areas. The initiative is expected to serve over 400 homes and is considered a vital part of the governorate's rural development plan.

The ceremony was attended by First Deputy Governor Mr. Waad Al-Muhammadawi, the District Commissioner of Al-Majar, the Deputy Governor for Technical Affairs, the Director of the Sewer Department, the Director of Project Management, and representatives from the Resident Engineer's Office.
