Dinar-Dollar Volatility: Seasonal and Structural Factors

By John Lee.

A report by the Future Iraq Institute for Economic Studies and Consultations reportedly highlights significant fluctuations in the exchange rate of the Iraqi Dinar (IQD) against the US Dollar on the parallel market over the past two decades, driven by a mix of seasonal, political, and macroeconomic factors.

Key factors cited in the report include:

  • Timing of national budget releases;
  • Public holidays in major trading countries, especially China and Iran;
  • Dollar sales by the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI);
  • Political developments and financial policy changes;
  • Geopolitical disruptions affecting foreign currency demand.

    When will the Iraqi dinar RV to its golden days $3.22?

    Iraq is rich in oil and natural resources just like neighbors in the region...

    Sorry I not really answering the questions just introducing a thought that many of us hard currency Dinar holders may have thought. The trip to visit the Saudi crowned Prince and all the top heavy hitters in business along with the president, Just May have been discussed? The timing roll out logistics?

    The Dinar will never recover. It is controled by the IMF. It was strong when Sadam was alive because Iraqi controled it's own central bank.
