TREC, Iraqi Chambers Sign Agreement to Advance Knowledge Economy

By John Lee.

The Trade and Economic Research Centre (TREC) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, aiming to bridge the gap between academic research and Iraq's commercial and economic realities.

The partnership seeks to promote a knowledge-based economy by translating theoretical studies into practical policies that enhance market competitiveness and support evidence-based decision-making.

Under the agreement, the Federation will provide TREC with access to field data from the private sector, enriching the centre's research outputs and recommendations. This cooperation is expected to improve the quality of economic decision-making by supplying traders and institutions with actionable, science-based indicators tailored to the Iraqi market.

Both parties highlighted the agreement as a key step toward integrating academic knowledge with commercial practice. They pledged to continue joint efforts through scientific and commercial events, exchange of expertise, development of market analysis tools, and delivery of economic advisory services to policymakers.
