KBR Awarded FEED Contract for Fertiliser Plant in Basra

By John Lee.

US-based KBR has been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract by KAR Electrical Power Production Trading FZE (KEPPT) for the development of a major fertilizer facility in Basra, Iraq.

The project includes a 2,300 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) ammonia production unit and a 3,850 MTPD urea production unit. The FEED will incorporate KBR's proprietary ammonia technology, which is designed for high efficiency, low emissions, and reliable operations, aiming to reduce capital expenditure and optimize the project schedule.

Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, commented:

"We are honored to support this pivotal project, which monetizes gas feedstock to boost the agricultural industry in Iraq ... this initiative should generate employment, reduce fertilizer imports, and reposition Iraq as a global ammonia producer."

Dear Sir, Congratulation for New Ammonia Urea Project. Which process selected for Urea? Normally KBR and TOYO have many plants. All the best for new project success.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Shaikh M Sabir
