Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani has overseen the signing of a principles agreement between the Ministry of Oil and US oil company Chevron for the development of several oil projects in Iraq.

The agreement covers the Nasiriyah Project, consisting of four exploration blocks, the development of the Balad oil field, and other producing fields and exploration areas.

During his meeting with Chevron Vice President Frank Mount and his delegation, the Prime Minister welcomed the company's return to Iraq, highlighting the government's new approach to engaging major international oil firms, particularly American companies. He praised Chevron's track record in technology transfer, community contributions, and environmentally responsible practices.

Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq's strategic relationship with the United States and stressed his government's efforts to attract investment, enhance oil production and refining, develop associated and natural gas, and introduce advanced technologies into the energy sector.

Mount expressed Chevron's commitment to a long-term partnership with Iraq, citing the country's natural and human potential and stable security environment. He confirmed the company's plans to bring modern technology and international expertise to support Iraq's energy development.
