The fourth session of the Armenia-Iraq Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Yerevan on Tuesday 26th August.

The meeting was co-chaired by Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and Iraqi Minister of Agriculture Abbas Al-Maliki. Discussions covered expanding cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, energy, high technologies, digitalisation, healthcare, infrastructure, and inter-regional ties.

Minister Papoyan noted that bilateral trade turnover exceeded USD 171 million in the first half of 2025, nearly double the level of the same period last year. He stressed the importance of organising business forums and exchange visits, and reaffirmed Armenia's readiness to support private sector initiatives, including joint ventures and representative offices.

The session concluded with the signing of several documents, including:

  • The protocol of the commission meeting;
  • A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Armenia and Iraq;
  • An MoU between the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Armenia and the Iraqi Chamber of Commerce;
  • An MoU between the Armenian Association of Developers and the Iraqi Contractors Federation.

A business forum was also held on the sidelines of the session, with the participation of more than 60 entrepreneurs from both countries.
