Asiacell Launches VoWiFi Service in Iraq

By John Lee.

Asiacell has announced the launch of Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) for the first time in the Iraq.

According to a press release, the new service allows subscribers to make clearer and more reliable calls wherever mobile coverage may be weak, such as in high-rise buildings, basements, or remote areas. Customers can use the service automatically and at no extra cost, without the need for additional applications.

Asiacell stated that the launch is part of its wider digital transformation strategy, and comes ahead of its planned rollout of 5G services once regulatory approvals are granted.
