Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has inaugurated the Al-Nisour Square development project in Baghdad, part of the government's first package of traffic decongestion initiatives in the capital.

The project was executed by China's Transtech Engineering Corporation, an independent legal entity of China Railway International Group, which in turn is described as "a specialized foreign economic company under China Railway Group Limited (CREC).

Key works comprise the Qah'tan Bridge, Al-Nusour Bridge linking Mohammed Mahdi Al-Jawahiri Street with Damascus Street, Tunnel No. 1 (Jordan Street to Qadisiyah Street), Tunnel No. 4 (Yafa Street to Beirut Street), the hanging tunnel, and Tunnel No. 5 (Beirut Street to Yafa Street).

Al-Sudani emphasised that this project is one of 16 schemes under the first phase of traffic solutions, with four additional projects currently underway as part of phase two. He noted that Iraq's secure and stable environment is enabling renewed investment in infrastructure, highlighting that Baghdad, neglected since the 1980s, is now benefiting from long-delayed development.

He also confirmed that the government is studying tailored development projects across the provinces, reaffirming its determination to deliver reconstruction and service improvements nationwide.
