Assessing the impact of the fire insurance gap on the fragility of special economic projects in Iraq

Insurance serves as a safeguard against unforeseen risks, while also acting as a significant financial instrument that contributes to national savings and economic development.

In Iraq, however, the sector remains underdeveloped due to the dominance of oil revenues, the weak role of the private sector, and limited public awareness of insurance's economic and social benefits.

The current study highlights the challenges in fire insurance, where coverage is under 12 per cent, and proposes measures to strengthen Iraq's insurance system to mitigate losses and support sustainable growth.
