Iraq and Turkey Resume Negotiations on Pipeline Agreement

Iraq and Turkey have resumed negotiations on a new agreement for transporting crude oil through the Iraq-Turkey Pipeline (ITP), following a meeting in Ankara.

Talks were held between the Iraqi Ministry of Oil and the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, led respectively by the Iraqi Deputy Minister for Extraction and his Turkish counterpart.

The meeting included senior Iraqi officials, among them the Director General of State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO) and the Director General of North Oil Company (NOC), as well as heads of key technical and legal departments at the Ministry of Oil.

Discussions covered the draft framework for a new pipeline agreement and broader cooperation in energy-sector projects. Both sides described the talks as constructive, noting that the understandings reached represent an important step towards finalising an agreement that supports long-term operational continuity and shared strategic interests.
