The Iraqi Government has approved the settlement of outstanding payments to China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) related to operation, maintenance and electricity generated at the Salah al-Din power plant for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, the settlement is based on details set out in a Ministry of Electricity letter dated 27 November 2025, and will be offset against delay penalties, in addition to remaining recorded observations against the company.
CMEC is a subsidiary of China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach).
In the same sector, the Council of Ministers for Energy has approved the renewal of the power purchase agreement for the Al-Shuaiba power plant with Gold Power for a period of one year, under the same terms and annexes as the original contract.
