Iraqi air defences have intercepted and shot down nine drones targeting military sites in Dhi Qar and Basra provinces, according to updates from the Joint Operations Command.
Four drones were downed after attempting to strike a military location inside Imam Ali Air Base in Dhi Qar province. Two were intercepted at 22:50, with no casualties or material losses reported.
In separate incidents, five additional drones were detected and destroyed while attempting to target military sites in Basra province. One earlier attempt to strike a military location in Basra resulted in a soldier being injured.
In total, nine drones were intercepted across the reported incidents. Authorities confirmed that, aside from the one injured soldier, no further human or material losses were recorded. Investigations have been launched in line with established procedures.
Separately, Jurf Al-Nasr in northern Babil province was subjected to two air strikes at 19:25. The authorities said they are closely monitoring the situation and will provide further details in due course.
