A delegation from the Ministry of Trade has visited the manufacturing facilities of Bühler Group in Switzerland to review progress on the five metal silos project.

The visit focused on overseeing production stages and monitoring implementation of the electromechanical equipment and materials designated for the scheme.

The delegation was headed by Dr Haider Nouri Al-Karaawi, Director General of the State Company for Grain Trading, accompanied by the Ministry's Director General of the Legal Department and several engineering and legal officials. Meetings were held with the company's executive management to review completion rates, legal and logistical procedures, and mechanisms to accelerate work in line with approved timelines.

According to a ministry statement, Al-Karaawi stressed the importance of adhering to approved technical specifications and completing the five silos within the scheduled timeframe, noting their role in expanding storage capacity and supporting food security.

He also confirmed the readiness of the State Company for Grain Trading to facilitate the entry of materials and equipment through Umm Qasr Port and their onward transport to the provinces to avoid logistical delays.
