Attack on Sarsang Oil Field Halts Production

Production has been suspended at the Sarsang oil field in Duhok Governorate following an attack that caused damage to the facility.

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the incident occurred on Thursday night and was carried out by armed groups operating outside the law in Iraq.

The field is operated by the US company HKN Energy.

The Ministry condemned the attack, describing it as targeting the economic infrastructure and natural resources of the Kurdistan Region. It also called on the Federal Government of Iraq to prevent attacks against the civilian population, economic infrastructure and the oil and gas sector in the Kurdistan Region.
