Babil Cement Factory Increases Output

By John Lee.

The Babil Cement Factory, operated by the General Company for Iraqi Cement (GCPI) under the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has reported a significant increase in production of non-standard cement (oil well cement, grades B and G) in February of this year.

Production reached 3,240 tonnes during February, a substantial rise compared with the same period in 2025, reflecting improvements in operational performance and utilisation of available production capacity. A further 1,500 tonnes have been supplied to oil companies since the start of the current year.

The factory holds an official licence under certification from the American Petroleum Institute (API), one of the most widely recognised international standards for oil well cement production. The certification strengthens the credibility of the domestic product and its ability to meet the requirements of the petroleum industry in line with global standards.
