North Oil Company and HKN Sign Hamrin Contract

A development contract for the Hamrin oil field has been signed between North Oil Company (NOC) and US-based HKN Energy, in a ceremony attended by Minister of Oil Basim Muhammad Khudhair al-Abadi.

Under the contract, peak production at the field is expected to reach 140,000 barrels per day, with associated gas output of 40 million standard cubic feet per day. The gas will be used for energy purposes within the field, with any surplus directed to reservoir pressure support through injection.

Also attending the signing were the Ministry's Undersecretary for Extraction Affairs Nassir Aziz, Undersecretary for Gas Affairs Izzat Sabir, and the directors general of the Iraq Oil Exploration Company, North Oil Company, the Contracts and Petroleum Licensing Directorate, the Reservoirs and Field Development Directorate, and the Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC).
