Iraq's Strategic Oil Production Plan for 2027-2030

Iraq has set a target of raising oil production to around 10 million barrels per day (bpd) by 2030, under a strategic plan covering the period 2027-2030.

According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi chaired a meeting at the Ministry of Oil attended by the ministers of finance and oil and a number of advisers to review the plan.

The plan includes programmes to develop the oil sector, increase production capacity, and expand export capabilities. Al-Zaidi directed that associated gas be fully utilised to meet domestic energy needs, reduce wastage, and eventually eliminate the need for gas imports.

He also called for increased output from oil fields in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and an expansion of exploration activities and exploration blocks.

The Ministry of Oil has been instructed to prepare for a major conference to be attended by leading international oil companies, with the aim of attracting investment, expertise, and technology for exploration, production, development, and export projects.
